Ch. 14: Final Report

Key:
It is a finalized review of the communication procedures and standards of organization. It includes an analysis of strengths and weaknesses the organization has, and potential proactive changes the organization can review.

Reflection:
I think once everything is finalized and prepared, all the nerves will go away. Our team would have worked months on this audit, so we would know it like the back of our hand. It will no longer be about what can I talk about, but more how can I concisely state all what we have concluded. I am excited to get to that point where we all look back, and see how much work we have put in. This is a long and in-depth project, and I'm sure as seniors we will be very proud. This is a project that includes other classes' knowledge and we get to use our new skill set in order to help an organization.

Ch. 13: Final Analysis and Interpretation

Key:
The final analysis includes interpreting data in order to form conclusions. There is not one method or approach to this process, but there is suggested guidelines.

Reflection:
I know this process will be very tedious, but quite rewarding as well. It will be difficult to analyze all the data as a team, and come to the final conclusion. Once we have analyzed and determine the actual problems within the organization, we would then need to agree upon selected methods for resolution. These solutions must be realistic and something corporate could implement. I am unsure if my team will approach this individually or collectively. Since we all have limited time, we will all have to determine whether or not we think it would be best to either: analyze data for commonalities on our own time before group meeting or go through data as a team in order to hopefully come to an agreement of what we all think stands out.

Ch. 12: Focus Group Interviews

Key Idea:
Focus groups provide important insights from employees who suggest what they believe should be implemented, planned, changed, or processed.

Reflection:
When serving as the secondary researcher in the focus group interviews, I learned how helpful it was that the employees had their peers to bounce ideas off of. When an employee brought up a problem, they would each discuss what they thought should occur in order to best resolve it. They would keep providing more detail, which ultimately provided us with ample amounts of information to analyze. We were particularly lucky, since the groups we got to interview were already quite talkative. They would even call out other employees if they thought they were being too quiet. We even got to see employees discuss how problems affect them differently based on their role and level in their organization. Ultimately, I think this process helped us learn more information about the organization as well as help the employees open up more to each other.

Ch. 8: Downs-Hazen Communication Satisfaction Questionnaire

Key Idea:
ComSat has been proven to be effectively thorough, quick, and easy when collecting feedback from personal to corporate level inquiries.

Reflection:
I feel as though questionnaires can be effective, but not exactly sure how they can be thorough. If I were to receive a questionnaire from work, I probably wouldn't be as elaborate as I would in an interview.  I would understand that this process would help whoever is auditing my company, but I wouldn't be as assured of confidentiality versus stating my responses verbally. However, I believe auditors should still use this tool as an additional resource when analyzing feedback. It could potentially lead to more responses, and employees would be able to respond at their own rate and time.
